(WNY News Now) – An 18-year-old from Depew has pleaded guilty to multiple violent felonies for shooting and seriously injuring a 20-year-old woman outside a Depew plaza in May 2025.
Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane announced that an 18-year-old male from Depew pleaded guilty Monday afternoon before Youth Part Judge Brenda Freedman to all counts in a four-count indictment. The charges include Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, Assault in the First Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, and Assault in the Second Degree.
The charges stem from a shooting that occurred on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at approximately 6:15 p.m., on the 5100 block of Broadway in the Village of Depew. According to prosecutors, the defendant, then 17 years old, intentionally shot a 20-year-old woman with an illegal firearm outside a store at the plaza.
The victim sustained serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to Erie County Medical Center (ECMC) for treatment. Police located and arrested the suspect later that evening.
The defendant remains held without bail at the Erie County Youth Services Center pending sentencing, which is scheduled for Thursday, December 11, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. A temporary order of protection remains in effect on behalf of the victim.
District Attorney Keane commended the Depew Police Department for leading the investigation and thanked the Lancaster Police Department for their assistance.
The case was prosecuted by Chief Noha A. Elnakib and Assistant District Attorney Taylor L. Yensan of the Raise the Age/Motor Vehicle Theft Insurance Fraud Unit.
