(WNY News Now) – Two Jamestown residents were charged after officers discovered two neglected dogs in poor health on the city’s north side earlier this week.
JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — On Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at approximately 3:31 p.m., officers from the Jamestown Police Department’s second platoon responded to a residence on the north side of the city following a report of animal cruelty.
Upon arrival, officers found two dogs that appeared malnourished and in poor health. After assessing the situation, police seized the animals and took them into protective care.
The owners, identified as Robert J. Santiago, 56, and Melissa E. Santiago, 29, both Jamestown residents, were arrested and charged with two counts of Overdriving, Torturing, and Injuring Animals; Failure to Provide Sustenance.
Following their arrest, both individuals were transported to the Jamestown City Jail, where they were processed and later released with appearance tickets. They are scheduled to appear in Jamestown City Court at a later date. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
