(WNY News Now) – Town of Ellicott Police report that a Jamestown resident was taken into custody after fleeing officers during a warrant check prompted by a 911 call.

The Town of Ellicott Police Department reports that Ralph R. Patterson III, 45, of Jamestown, New York, was charged with Resisting Arrest following an incident on December 26, 2025.

According to police, officers responded to a 911 call reporting that Patterson and another male were allegedly unwanted at a residence. When officers arrived, Patterson fled the scene on foot. Police say he was later located in the surrounding area, where he again attempted to evade officers.

Authorities stated that Patterson ran from police for a period of time due to outstanding warrants for his arrest. He was eventually apprehended and taken into custody without further incident.

Patterson was issued an appearance ticket for the resisting arrest charge and was transported to another agency to address the outstanding warrants. He is scheduled to appear in Town of Ellicott Court at a later date.

As with all criminal cases, the charge is an allegation, and Patterson is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

  1. If the boy had nothing to hide he never would’ve run!!! They don’t get it that they’re just getting themselves into more trouble by running. I have never understood that kind of thinking. The only person they’re hurting is themselves. Nobody else is going to have to sit in jail away from their friends and family. Their record is going to follow them everywhere they go. Even when trying to get a job. Your arrest record shouldn’t be used against you while you’re trying to get a legitimate job. That’s the first thing that sends people back to crime in the first place. Beth Chapman knew that was a problem before she died and was working to change it. It doesn’t surprise me that her crusade for change fell by the waysideonce she was gone. Government doesn’t like people that shake things up. Beth loved to shake things right down to their very foundations. She was right to do it too!!! We have too many families being torn apart because a mom or dad makes a mistake. That mistake stops them from getting a decent job. So then they have to go back to what they know to feed their family. It turns into a viscous cycle that repeats itself over and over again. The Patterson family is a perfect example of a broken system.
