(WNY News Now) – A Bemus Point man was charged with driving while intoxicated early New Year’s Day after deputies responded to a vehicle complaint on Bowman Avenue in the Town of Chautauqua.

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office reported that on January 1, 2026, at approximately 4:46 a.m., deputies were dispatched to Bowman Avenue for a complaint involving a vehicle. Upon arrival, deputies located a vehicle that had become stuck in a snowbank.

Investigators identified the operator as Jeremy D. Chambers, 45, of Bemus Point, New York. Following an investigation at the scene, deputies determined that Chambers was operating the vehicle while intoxicated.

Chambers was taken into custody and transported to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office for processing. He was charged with driving while intoxicated, speed not reasonable and prudent, and failure to keep right.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Chambers was later released and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Chautauqua Court at a later date. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
