Investigators determined that Jacob A. Matherly, a 32-year-old Jamestown resident, allegedly made verbal threats toward a victim and pointed a handgun at the individual before leaving the scene and fleeing to a nearby residence.
Officers located Matherly at the residence and took him into custody without incident. The home was secured while detectives applied for and obtained a search warrant.
Upon execution of the warrant, officers and detectives recovered a .38-caliber revolver from inside the residence. Police stated that Matherly does not possess a New York State pistol permit.
Matherly was charged with Menacing in the First Degree, a felony; Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree, a felony; and Harassment in the Second Degree.
