(WNY News Now) – A Randolph man is facing multiple charges after police say he left the scene of a property damage accident in Jamestown while allegedly intoxicated.

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — Officers from the Jamestown Police Department responded to a reported motor vehicle accident at the intersection of East 4th Street and North Main Street on March 28, 2026, at approximately 10:30 a.m.

According to police, a witness reported that a vehicle involved in the crash fled the scene with significant front-end damage. Officers located the vehicle a short distance away, where it was found with a deployed airbag.

The operator, identified as 45-year-old James D. Bliss of Randolph, was investigated at the scene. Police determined that Bliss was allegedly operating the vehicle while in an intoxicated condition.

Bliss was taken into custody and transported to the Jamestown City Jail, where he consented to a chemical breath test. Authorities reported that the test indicated a blood alcohol concentration nearly four times the legal limit.

He was charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated (DWI), Driving While Intoxicated, and Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident.

Bliss was later released with Uniform Traffic Tickets and turned over to a sober third party. He is scheduled to appear in Jamestown City Court at a later date. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
