(WNY News Now) – A 22-year-old Buffalo man was taken into custody early Tuesday after Jamestown police say they intervened in a physical domestic incident and encountered resistance during the arrest.

According to the Jamestown Police Department, officers from the 3rd Platoon were on patrol around 1:37 a.m. on April 8, 2026, when they observed a physical domestic incident taking place on the sidewalk near East 8th Street and Lakeview Avenue.

Police reported that officers intervened in the situation and identified the male involved as Marc A. Staples Jr., 22, of Buffalo. During the intervention, Staples allegedly attempted to physically interfere with officers and refused to comply with verbal commands.

Authorities say Staples pulled away from officers as they attempted to take him into custody, resulting in a brief struggle. Officers were ultimately able to detain him without further incident.

Staples was transported to the Jamestown City Jail, where he was held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court.

He has been charged with Disorderly Conduct, Obstructing Governmental Administration in the Second Degree, and Resisting Arrest. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
