(WNY News Now) – A 48-year-old Rochester man has pleaded guilty to federal fentanyl trafficking and firearm charges after investigators seized suspected drugs packaged for sale and a loaded handgun from his residence, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Juman Shackelford, 48, of Rochester, pleaded guilty before U.S. Chief District Judge Elizabeth A. Wolford to possession with intent to distribute 40 grams or more of fentanyl and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo announced the plea. The charges stem from a federal investigation into drug trafficking activity.

On Feb. 18, 2026, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agents executed a search warrant at Shackelford’s residence on North Goodman Street in Rochester.

During the search, agents seized hundreds of capsules and baggies containing fentanyl, cocaine and heroin packaged for sale. Investigators also recovered drug paraphernalia and a loaded 9mm pistol.

The two federal offenses carry a potential sentence ranging from a mandatory minimum of 10 years in prison to a maximum of life imprisonment, along with a possible fine of up to $5 million, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

The final sentence will be determined by the court.

Shackelford is scheduled to be sentenced on Feb. 11, 2027, before Judge Wolford.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert A. Marangola is prosecuting the case.

The investigation was conducted by the DEA’s New York Field Division under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Farhana Islam.
