Indiana Truck Driver Charged With DWI After Leaving I-86 Roadway

FINDLEY LAKE – A Liberty, In. truck driver is charged with driving while intoxicated after his trailer left the I-86 roadway on Friday, according to the New York State Police.

John Sanders, 37, reportedly had his truck put “out of service” in Allegany County, but continued to drive west on I-86 in an “out of service” status before leaving the roadway.

Saunders allegedly exhibited signs of being intoxicated but had to be transported to UPMC Hospital in Jamestown, NY for possible internal injuries.

Troopers met Saunders at UPMC, placed him under arrest for DWI and secured a blood sample. During the New York State Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit’s inspection of Saunder’s truck, two open bottles of vodka were located in the cab.

Upon his release from the hospital, Saunders was processed at SP Jamestown and transported to the Chautauqua County Jail, pending arraignment.
