BUFFALO – A nationwide study from USA Today regarding veteran health care resulted in some good results and some not so good results.

According to WIVB in Buffalo, there was some encouraging news and some discouraging news as well.

The study found that Department of Veteran Affairs hospitals do some things better, but that non-government providers are surpassing the VA.

The study showed that veterans have a higher chance of contracting an infection if cared for in a VA facility.

The study looked at veterans care at 147 VA medical facilities and care veterans received at non-government facilities.

One area the VA performed poorly in according to the study is waiting time in the emergency room. The VA waiting times lagged well behind waiting times for veterans using non-government facilities.
