ARKWRIGHT – A Town of Arkwright homeowner was charged after New York State DEC Forest Rangers said he violated the burn ban.

The homeowner, who was not identified, is charged with illegal burning during the burn ban.

Last Thursday Forest Rangers Nathan Sprague and Zachary Robitaille were dispatched to a field fire in the Town of Arkwright.

When the Rangers arrived, Cassadaga Fire Department personnel were finishing the mop-up of the fire.

Rangers said the homeowner admitted to starting a brush pile fire and the flames spread to an adjacent field, burning approximately 1/2 an acre.
