OLEAN – Starting Monday, police in the City of Olean will be “ticketing” children with free Slurpee coupons as part of Operation Chill.

In a post on the department’s Facebook page, police said officers will be ‘ticketing” youngsters caught in the act of doing something good with a free Slurpee coupon from 7-Eleven.

Police said acts of good might include wearing a bike helmet, helping another person, participating in a positive activity in the community, or just being seen engaging in a healthy activity.

Each coupon can be redeemed for a small Slurpee drink at participating 7-Eleven stores.

Police said the initiative is in conjunction with the Healthy Cattaraugus Coalition.
