Falconer Man Killed In Ohio Crash Tuesday Morning

SPRINGFIELD, OHIO – A Falconer man has been killed in an early Tuesday morning crash along I-70 in Clark County, Ohio, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Matthew W. Eskeli IV, 20, of Falconer, was pronounced dead at Miami Valley Hospital.

Police said a 2008 BMW M3, driven by Mark J. Terrell, 37, of South Charleston, Ohio, was eastbound on Interstate 70. A 2012 Ford Focus, driven by Eskeli was also traveling eastbound on Interstate 70. The BMW struck the left side of the Ford Focus, causing the Ford Focus to travel off the right side of the roadway. The Ford struck an exit sign, light pole, and rolled over before coming to final rest on its left side. The BMW continued eastbound for a short distance before it became disabled along the right berm.


Eskeli was life-flighted to Miami Valley Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Zach B. Cooper III, 21, of Brockport, a passenger in the Ford was transported to Springfield Regional Hospital and then Life-flighted to Miami Valley Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Benjamin E. Cooper, 22, of Corning, the backseat passenger, was transported to Springfield Regional Hospital for precautionary reasons. The two occupants in the BMW were not injured.

Police said alcohol is suspected and the crash remains under investigation.
