OLEAN – A 47-year-old Olean man is facing DWI charges after New York State Police said he drove drunk nearly twice the legal limit this week.

Troopers said they stopped James R. Crawford on Wayman Branch Road after he was exhibiting signs of intoxication Sunday.

Police said Crawford failed several field standardized field sobriety tests at the scene.

Crawford was arrested for DWI and transported to the State Police Barracks in Olean where police said he blew a chemical breath test of 0.16%.

Police said Crawford was released with appearance tickets. He is due to appear in Olean Town Court in September.
