
JAMESTOWN – A City of Jamestown man is behind bars after police said he choked a 9-year-old boy during a struggle at 14 Cedar Ave. on Monday.
Jamestown Police said Jesse R. Waite Jr., 51, was drunk when he pinned down the 9-year-old before punching him in the face and choking him.
Police said an 18-year-old man who attempted to intervene in the alteration was also allegedly pinned down and choked by Waite.
Waite then allegedly pushed his fingers into the teen’s eye sockets and punched him in the face.
Police said a 5-year-old girl watched the brawl take place.
Waite was arrested and taken to Jamestown City Jail. He is charged with felony second-degree strangulation, criminal obstruction of breaking, two counts of third-degree assault, two counts of second-degree unlawful imprisonment and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
Police said the 9-year-old and 18-year-old were treated for their injuries at the scene.
