LITTLE VALLEY – The Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents to watch out for a phone scam.

Deputies say scammers are calling people and pretending to be from the Social Security Administration.

The callers ask residents to press number one on their phones in attempt to gain personal information.

The Sheriff’s Office is reminding residents that the Social Security Administration does not call people and all their communication is done by mail.

If anyone receives a call from the scammers they are asked to call their local police agency.
