MIAMI – Some communities along the Florida Coast are beginning to breathe a little easier, as Hurricane Dorian lashes them with wind and rain but passes by without making landfall.

Forecasters say as the storm moves north Georgia, the Carolinas, and Southern Virginia have their guard up.

Dorian is picking up speed, and expanding, which means greater the potential for dangerous storm surge and flooding.

Meanwhile, in the Bahamas they are facing the grim after effects of the strongest hurricane to ever hit the island nation. The death toll is rising. Several areas in the Bahamas still remain underwater.
