JAMESTOWN – Jamestown Public School’s PROMISE Fund kicked off their Winter Clothing Drive by donating hundreds of rain ponchos to school children in need.
The rain ponchos will be given out by each school to protect children in rainy weather. However, school officials say the rain ponchos are just the beginning.
The group will host a fundraiser on Friday, October 4th at the Jamestown High School Homecoming Football Game to continue their effort to collect clothing for district students.
School officials say the fund is asking the community to bring gently used or new winter wear including coats, boots, hats, gloves and scarfs to be given to Jamestown children.
In addition to the JHS Homecoming game, the community can drop off gently used or new winter wear at every Jamestown school in the designated bins through November 4.
The PROMISE Fund was founded in 2016 as a charitable, non-endowment fund as part of the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation.
Its mission is to expand the financial capacity of Jamestown Schools through private, tax-deductible fund-raising activities.
