WATTS FLATTS – Despite heavy rain and wind, rescuers continued the search for a missing 74-year-old woman who suffers with Alzheimer’s disease Wednesday morning.
Diana Chase was last seen wearing blue pajama pants, a gray zip-up sweatshirt and walking with a cane on Blockville Watts Flatts Road, around 1:30 p.m. Sunday.
Chautauqua County Sheriff Jim Quattrone says his department, with the help of many others, remain optimistic and are prepared to continuing searching into the weekend.
Chase’s granddaughter, Megan, says her family is not giving up hope.
“All day yesterday (Monday) and all last night we were searching and trying to help find her, trying to help as much as we can,” Chase told WNYNewsNow in an interview Tuesday. “I was up literally all night searching and hoping that she would come home.”
A command center is setup at the Harmony Town Highway Department where hundreds of volunteers have stopped by to help. Law enforcement have used helicopters and search dogs to aid the search.
If anyone sees Chase or has information, they are asked to call the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office at (716) 753-2131 or simply dial 911.
