JAMESTOWN – Weather forecasters say a winter storm will likely bring heavy snow and the chance for mixed precipitation into the area on Monday.

The National Weather Service in Buffalo issued a Winter Storm Watch for Chautauqua and Cattaraugus Counties.

Forecasters expect heavy snow, with some mixed precipitation possible near the Pennsylvania state line, on Monday.

Total snow accumulations of 6 to 10 inches are possible across northern areas where precipitation stays frozen and 3 to 6 inches are possible near the state line where mixed precipitation is expected.

Ice accumulations of up to a tenth of an inch are possible across southern areas.

Officials say travel conditions could deteriorate during the day Monday, with the heaviest snowfall rates and worst travel from late Monday through Tuesday morning.
