DUNKIRK – A City of Dunkirk man was arrested for allegedly trafficking drugs following a several month investigation by the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force.

Investigators say Carmel Cruz, 55, was indicted on charges of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance by a Chautauqua County Grand Jury.

On Monday, Dunkirk Police Officers arrested Cruz following a traffic stop on Lakeshore Drive in the City of Dunkirk.

Cruz was held at the Chautauqua County Jail pending arraignment in the case.

The Dunkirk Police Department, Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office and the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force encourage community members to report any suspicious or illegal activity to their tip line at (716) 664-2420.
