LITTLE VALLEY – The Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office is warning area residents about a recent phone scam.

Deputies say the scammers claim they are from the Social Security Bureau and request the victim’s last four digits of their social security number.

Furthermore, the scammers say the victim must send money to clear up an alleged arrest warrant.

The callers also, according to deputies, give detailed information like a badge number, case number and warrant number claiming the warrant is from the State of Texas.

Deputies remind residents not to release any personal information over the phone.

If such a call is received, residents are encouraged to report the call their local police agency.
