SALAMANCA – Congressman Tom Reed last week announced an investment award of $70,000 for the Southern Tier West Regional Planning and Development Board.
Reed says the funds will support the development and implementation of a comprehensive economic development strategy (CEDS) for the region served by the Southern Tier West Regional Planning and Development Board, including Allegany, Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties.
The CEDS process is intended to bring together public and private sectors to help diversify and strengthen the regional economy.
“Making sure our constituents, businesses and organizations are able to thrive with adequate economic development funds is something we care about,” said Tom. “This investment award will strengthen and support the economic situation in Cattaraugus, Chautauqua and Allegany counties.
“Southern Tier West appreciates the continued grant support from the US Department of Commerce, Economic Development Administration, which allows us to publish the regional Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy as well as work on other economic development initiatives across our three-county region,” said Richard Zink, Southern Tier West Regional Planning and Development Board executive director. “These efforts are made possible with the partnership of our regional economic development partners and the support we receive from our federal agencies and representatives.”
