MAYVILLE – A convicted sex offender in Chautauqua County was arrested after allegedly failing to register his address with police.

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office says they received a tip last week that William Bergeron, 33, a convicted sex offender, failed to report his new address within ten calendar days.

Investigators determined that Bergeron was no longer living at his last reported address and failed to report his move to the New York State Sex Offender Registry, which is a requirement under his sex offender status.

Furthermore, deputies say they also learned that Bergeron was convicted of failing to register earlier this year, which makes the new charge a class D Felony.

On Monday, Bergeron was located by the Erie County Sheriff’s Office and turned over to Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office for centralized arraignment in the case.
