DUNKIRK – A City of Dunkirk man was released without bail after allegedly leading police on a vehicle pursuit Thursday morning.

Dunkirk Police say Dustin Barrett, 25, allegedly fled officers in a stolen SUV on Lakeshore Drive East in Dunkirk just before 9 a.m.

The chase continued to West Third Street, left the city limits and eventually returned to the city.

Officers say the pursuit came to an end around 9:30 a.m. on Franklin Avenue.

Barrett was taken into custody and charged with multiple vehicle and traffic violations; including unlawful fleeing in a motor vehicle, felony third-degree grand larceny and felony first-degree reckless endangerment.

Police say Barrett was arraigned in Dunkirk City Court and released under the New York State Bail Reform Law.
