ELLICOTT – A new phone scam is making its rounds through our area claiming customer’s accounts with AT&T have been “suspended.”

Town of Ellicott Police officials say the calls come from a 1-800 number and scammers ask residents for the last four digits of their Social Security number.

Additionally, officials say the scammers tend to change their supposed name and number often.

Police are remaining residents to always be cautious with phone callers ask for personal information like a social security number or account login information.

They say those with questions regarding their account should contact the company directly.
