MAYVILLE – The annual Presidents Day Weekend Winter Festival is slated to kickoff tonight with the lighting of the ‘snow castle’ at Lakeside Park in Mayville.
Generally, the centerpiece of the festival is made from ice on Chautauqua Lake, although this year mild temperatures have changed building specs a bit.
For the first time in the festival’s history, the castle was constructed of a combination of snow and ice.
The weekend’s festivities will launch at 6 p.m. with the lighting of the castle followed by the Queen of Hearts Ice Ball, a night of music and dancing, food trucks, a cash bar and more from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. in the heated party tent at Lakeside Park.
The festival will feature several new events and activities, and continue many introduced last year, including the return of a beer and wine tent, pond hockey and a children’s activity tent.
On Saturday night the Chautauqua Lake Snowmobile Club will host a fireworks display and flare parade.
