JAMESTOWN – With the assistance of Jamestown High School’s varsity football coach Tom Langworthy, Lincoln Elementary School now has a wrestling club.

The wrestling club was started to give interested members knowledge about the sport and a way to get to socialize with others.

So far, the wrestling club has around 35 members and ranges for kids from kindergarten to fourth grade.

On the last night of the season for the club, all of the participants received a wrestling club t-shirt.

Langworthy said, “I am proud of this program because school-based athletic programs at elementary schools are not common, but very effective for student engagement and empowerment.”

“Hopefully, this can be the blueprint for other sports programs for elementary schools.”
