(WNY News Now) – A Jamestown woman was taken into custody after police said a juvenile was found following a vehicle pursuit and crash early Friday morning.

Jamestown police arrested Amber M. Giancotti, 41, on a charge of Endangering the Welfare of a Child following an incident early Sept. 25.

According to the Jamestown Police Department, officers from the Third Platoon attempted to stop a vehicle at about 2:33 a.m. near Foote Avenue and Harrison Avenue after observing a traffic violation.

Police said the vehicle fled from officers and later crashed on Pratt Avenue.

While searching the area, officers located a juvenile, who was taken into custody and transported to the Jamestown Police Department.

Police also determined that the vehicle had been reported stolen from an address in the City of Jamestown. The vehicle had not yet been reported stolen at the time officers located it.

Giancotti, identified by police as the juvenile’s mother, was notified and went to the Jamestown Police Department. She was then taken into custody and charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child, based on an allegation that she failed to exercise control over a minor.

Giancotti was being held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
