WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump took part in the annual wreath laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia to mark Memorial Day Monday.
Vice President Pence also participated.
The President, along with First Lady Melania Trump, will be later traveling to Baltimore to visit Fort McHenry.
The successful defense there of the Baltimore Harbor during the war of 1812 inspired the writing of the “Star-Spangled Banner.”
The visit comes despite a plea for Trump to re-think his visit from Baltimore Mayor Bernard “Jack” Young.
Young says it will send the wrong message at a time when he’s asking the city’s residents not to travel.
That’s because Baltimore is one of the areas of concern for public health officials worried about the spread of Coronavirus.
