JAMESTOWN – Jamestown High School Senior spring athletes were honored with a parade downtown this week.
Vehicles were decorated with posters, paint and streamers. Families and community members gathered together, while practicing social distancing, to celebrate the students.
Joanne Dean helped organize the event. Dean says that seniors across the board missed out on many traditions because of the COVID-19 crisis.
“Their season didn’t get underway at all and we felt it was important they get recognized,” said Dean. “We hope that the kids appreciate it.”
Banners featuring five different spring sports honoring 40 different senior athletes are also on display downtown. Dean says they will remain posted on light poles through June.
