JAMESTOWN – One of the area’s largest mobile phone retailers has reopened to in-person customers after working remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Andy Swanson, owner of Phone Zone in Jamestown, says when the NY on PAUSE first took effect, he closed his doors but remained operational as an essential telecommunication service.
Swanson says he was busy throughout the pandemic helping customers over the phone.
Now that Phone Zone is back open with several safety measures in place, Swanson says he is happy to see customers in person, though he wishes he could see their smiling faces better.
“It is a little bit more difficult not being able to see people’s facial expressions, you can (still) tell when people are smiling,” explained Swanson. “Otherwise, if worst comes to worst, I tell people to take a few steps back and give me a quick show real quick.”
“I think we should get some clear masks. If we have to wear them, it would be a lot nicer if they were clear,” furthered Swanson.
Phone Zone offers five different prepaid services including Boost Mobile, Verizon Prepaid, AT&T Prepaid, Page Plus and H20 Prepaid. Additionally, Phone Zone offers premier cell phone repair and custom phone cases.
Swanson says shopping local has always been important, however, throughout the COVID-19 pandemic supporting local businesses has proved to be essential.
