Full Primary Results Expected Next Week After Absentee Vote Count

MAYVILLE – Results for the June Primary Election in Chautauqua County are posted; however, full results will not be known until next week.

Chautauqua County Democratic Commissioner of Elections Norm Green says more than 28,000 absentee ballots were sent out to voters, meaning the final result will not be known until July 1 when absentee ballots are counted.

Although it is clear that Joe Biden is the winner of Tuesday’s primary in New York.

He now has 2,304 delegates, having surpassed the 1,991 needed to clinch the Democratic nomination earlier this month.

Although Biden has been the only candidate in the race since Bernie Sanders suspended his campaign on April 8, Sanders remains on the ballot. Sanders, who is originally from Brooklyn, has a strong base of support in New York and held a campaign launch event in Brooklyn.

Back in Chautauqua County, Biden received 63% of the vote, with Sanders receiving 23%.
