Dicey Weekend Ahead With Some Rain At Times To Start August

JAMESTOWN – It’s time to kick off another month but the weather won’t be fully cooperative with some chances for rain over the weekend and into early next week.

The cold front that moved through yesterday has now ran into an advancing warm front which has set up a stationary bound to our south. The front will move out tonight allowing for an overall nice day on Saturday before showers and thunderstorms return on Sunday.

Tonight will be another dry and comfortable night with a few clouds passing by. If you can, get out and see Comet Nowise. Understand, the ability to see the comet has been fading so the best chance to get a view will be through a telescope or binoculars. Lows 57 in the valleys, 65 at the Lake Erie shoreline.

Saturday will be mainly dry with a good supply of sunshine to go around. However, heat in the afternoon; like after 4 p.m., some showers will be possible as moisture from an approaching storm system starts to infiltrate the region. Highs 77 to 85.

As the storm moves close to the region just to our Northwest, showers and thunderstorms will start to uptick in overall coverage Saturday night and Sunday. The NOAA Storm Prediction Center has outlined all of the region under a low end Marginal Risk, a level out of 5, for severe thunderstorms.

While the threat isn’t very high, a couple storms could be strong with gusty winds and heavy rainfall especially through Sunday morning. The humidity will be come up as well on Sunday bringing a heat index back. Highs in the lower 80’s.

As the storm pulls away from the area on Monday, we’ll still be left with a few showers and thunderstorms throughout the day. Highs in the upper 70’s.

A few showers and rumbles will still be possible on Tuesday and Wednesday with much cooler and refreshing air surging in. Highs in the mid 70’s.
