JAMESTOWN – Those looking to get ‘inked up’ in downtown Jamestown now have the go-ahead from City Council.

During Monday’s voting session, the lawmaking body passed a resolution changing a city ordinance that prohibited body art facilities from operating downtown.

The former code only allowed tattoo parlors to open for business in service and highway commercial zones of the city.

Under the new measure, parlors can operate in many areas of the city, including those zoned as Community Commercial, Central Business-Downtown, Central Commercial, Multiple-Family Residential, Professional Office and Neighborhood Commercial areas.

City leaders also approved a proposed parking ticket amnesty program, where during the month of October, people with a parking violation can bring a donation to waive penalties of the ticket.
