JAMESTOWN — Every kid deserves a wonderful Christmas.
So says Rich Bianco, Director of the Exceptional Stars Baseball Program. He and three local organizations are holding an on-line fund raiser this weekend to help Toys For Tots.
Exceptional Stars is collaborating with A.J. Strong and Rosie’s Run to raise funds to buy more toys for Christmas. The event runs from 5 p.m. Friday through 5 p.m. Sunday, Bianco said.
“We’re asking community members to adopt a kid for a $10 donation,” he said. “At the end of the weekend, we’re going to total up all the donations that we’ve received and our three organizations are going to match the totals that we raised and all of that money will be donated to our local Toys For Tots.”
The organizations want to give back to the community to help others and in recognition of all the community support they’ve received, Bianco noted.
“It’s really taken off and we’re hoping that this weekend we can get a pretty substantial amount of donations to help support the kids in our community,” he said.
Bianco said his organizations gives children with special needs the chance to participate in different sporting events like baseball, putt putt and bowling.
“We’ve been very fortunate that our community, they like what we’re trying to do. They like the philosophy behind it and they’ve just given tremendously with our organization,” Bianco said. “We really felt the need to give back and this is just the best way that we could think to do it. Every kid deserves to have a wonderful Christmas.”
