Congressman Reed Declares Victory In 23rd Congressional District Race

CORNING – Congressman Tom Reed has declared victory in the race for New York’s 23rd Congressional District.

Reed leads with 160,131 votes, 61 percent of ballots cast, over Democratic challenger Tracy Mitrano who has 90,959 votes, 34 percent, a difference of more than 69,000 ballots.

“It is ultimately up to the people,” said Reed. “It is rewarding, it is humbling, but it also reminds me that we have to wake up tomorrow and get back to work.”


As of 8 a.m. Wednesday, are 506 of the 526 election districts reporting.

An increase in absentee ballots may also have some influence over the race.

Mitrano previously said out of respect every voter and every vote, she will refrain from commenting until the absentee ballots are opened November 10.



Reed previously defeated Mitrano in the 2018 general election.
