JAMESTOWN – Jamestown’s finest hit the field Wednesday night raising money for kids in the community.

Officers with the Jamestown Police Department joined the Jamestown Old Timers in a charity baseball game at Russell E. Diethrick Jr. Park.

Lt. Rob Bender was among those who took the field for some friendly competition.

He says all proceeds from the night will be donated to the Tim Hortons Cafe and Bake Shop Camp Day Foundation.

“We’re just hoping to have fun, said Lt. Bender. “These guys are pretty good, they plan every weekend and a lot of us haven’t swung a bat in ten years plus, so it is just going to be fun to get out there.”

On Wednesday, the popular coffee shop also hosted their annual fundraiser, with proceeds from the business’s sales helping disadvantaged kids in the U.S. and Canada.
