ALBANY (Erie News Now) – New York Governor, Andrew Cuomo announced he will resign in two weeks. We caught up with political expert Dr. Jeff Bloodworth from Gannon University who was surprised Cuomo stepped down so soon.
Bloodworth pointed out that Cuomo has been involved in the highest level of democratic politics since the early 1980’s.
“And now he is just gone and going to be out of the limelight, and thankfully so,” Bloodworth said. “I was surprised that he didn’t hold out longer. My assumption is that a Governor who resigned can serve on boards and make lots of money to pay off the civil lawsuits a lot more than an impeached governor.”
Bloodworth said he thought Cuomo was going to be impeached, saying that will really open up the race come election season between the Progressive and Establishment wings.
Cuomo’s resignation comes after a New York Attorney General investigation found Cuomo had sexually harassed at least 11 women.
