ALBANY – Andrew Cuomo has officially submitted his letter of resignation.
The now former Governor of New York submitted the letter just hours before his successor, Kathy Hochul, was sworn into office as the state’s first female Governor.
“I hereby tender my resignation for the office of Governor of the State of New York,” read the letter to state Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins and Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie. “This resignation will be effective at 12:00 a.m. August 24, 2021.”
“It has been my pleasure to serve with you both,” Cuomo concluded.
The three-term Democrat announced he would step down two weeks ago after a report from the state Attorney General’s Office accused him of sexually harassing 11 women.
Several calls for the governor’s resignation followed.
