Felon Charged After Police Allegedly Find Loaded Handgun In Car

DUNKIRK – A 33-year-old felon is facing charges after police allegedly found a loaded handgun in his vehicle during a traffic stop overnight in the City of Dunkirk. 

Dunkirk Police report Byron Oaks Jr. Was pulled over on Sunday around 1:45 a.m. in the area of Lake Shore Drive West and Pike Street. 

Following an investigation, officers allegedly found a loaded and illegally possessed .40 cal handgun in his possession. As a two-time convicted felon, police said he could not legally possess the pistol in New York.  











Oaks was charged with second and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon along with obstructing governmental administration and additional traffic violations.
