GOWANDA – No one was hurt after a delivery truck crashed into a building in Gowanda.

The Gowanda Fire Department was dispatched to the China King restaurant at the corner of South Water Street and Jamestown Street on Tuesday morning.

Officials say a Morgan Linen truck, operated by a 34-year-old man from Jamestown, was turning left on to South Water Street when the man slid out of his seat. When slipping he grabbed the steering wheel and abruptly turned his vehicle into the building.

The structure was extensively damaged. Additionally, the force of the crash broke a gas line inside. Nearby buildings were evacuated until National Fuel shut off the gas.

Crews remained on scene for several hours until the building was secured. The restaurant is expected to be closed until further notice.
