ERIE (Erie News Now) – A 23-year old’s murder is making headlines across the nation: Lauren Smith-Fields who was killed on a date that she arranged from a dating app called Bumble.








It’s raising awareness to the dangers of dating. Especially on those apps like Tinder, Bumble, AND O.K. Cupid, they’re a few popular ones, their main audience are college students.

So we caught up with Lieutenant Chris Hauber with the Millcreek Police Department, he warns everyone using dating apps to remember common sense.









Some tips to use on your first date are meeting in public rather than in private, check all surroundings and inform others of your plans.

Although violence is not seen often on dates in our area, the main thing seen are extortions.
