New COVID-19 Infections Continue To Drop In Chautauqua County

JAMESTOWN – The number of new COVID-19 infections continued to drop last week in Chautauqua County.

According to the County Health Department’s update to the COVID-19 dashboard, 253 new cases were reported from Sunday, February 13 to Saturday, February 19. 82 of the new cases are in Jamestown.


The seven-day average percent positivity rate was 4.3 percent, with the transmission rate still marked as “high” according to the CDC.

Five people died from COVID-19 complications over the past week, bringing the county’s death toll since the pandemic began to 320.

As for local hospitalizations, 11 people are seeking treatment in COVID-19 units countywide. Officials say this doesn’t represent the number of county residents who are hospitalized in the region.



Vaccination data states that 65 percent of residents have one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine with 58 percent of people considered fully vaccinated.
