35-Year-Old Man, Convicted In Child Crimes Case, Sentenced To Federal Prison

BUFFALO – A 35-year-old Jamestown man who plead guilty to crimes against children will spend 27-years in a federal prison.

The U.S. Attorney in Buffalo announced the sentencing of Richard LaFrance on Monday. He will also undergo a lifetime of supervision by authorities.











Prosecutors say that in 2019 LaFrance met a 14-year-old and started chatting with them via email and text message. The communications between the two, prosecutors further, was sexually explicit with LaFrance requesting naked pictures of the teen.

In addition, investigators say that LaFrance met up with the victim at least two times and engaged in sexual intercourse with them.

The sentencing is the result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Stephen Belongia, and the Chautauqua County Sherriff’s Office, under the direction of Sheriff James Quattrone.
