DUNKIRK – A 24-year-old man is accused of shooting a pistol several times in the air while walking around a street in the City of Dunkirk on Friday. 

Around 1:25 p.m., Dunkirk Police Dispatch received numerous calls regarding a person with a pistol walking in the area of the 400 block of Park and the 400 and 500 blocks of Columbus Avenues, pointing the gun at people and shooting in the air several times.   

Officers located the subject, reported to be Adrian E. Rivera-Salome, of Dunkirk, with a 9mm pistol near the intersection of E 6th St. and Columbus Ave. where he surrendered to officers without incident.  

Rivera-Salome, who is on NYS Parole, was charged with six counts of reckless endangerment, two counts of menacing in the second degree, one count of criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree for being in possession of a firearm as a convicted felon, and one count of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree for possessing a loaded firearm.
