Lithium-Ion Battery Producer Eyes Expansion To Jamestown

JAMESTOWN – A lithium-ion battery producer is planning to develop a new location in the greater Jamestown area.

On Tuesday, the New York Power Authority Board of Trustees approved plans for 23 companies statewide, including Electrovaya.


The lithium-ion battery producer plans to open a 135,000 square-foot manufacturing assembly facility locally.

The Board of Trustees allocated 1.5-megawatts of low-cost hydropower for their use.

For the region, this expansion is expected to bring 100 green jobs into the area and approximately $40 million in capital investments.
