JAMESTOWN, NY (WNY News Now) – Jamestown area boy scouts and other volunteers have joined forces to help clean up trash on the city’s southside.
Those from Cub Scout Pack 123 of Jamestown and Troop 133 of Frewsburg, their parents and other volunteers spent the day Saturday cleaning up the McKinley Avenue area in Jamestown.
The service projects, according to Cubmaster Joseph Lang, helps the scouts keep their promise “to help other people.”
While a Scout should do his best to lend a hand every day, Lang says a group service project like this, is a bigger way to help.
“While you’re giving service, you’re learning to work together with others to do something that’s good for your community,” said Lang. “We hope that the people of this neighborhood see this and start gaining a little respect for their hometown.”
The scouts credit Justin Miller, of Tactical Tree Solutions, for collaborating to make this cleanup event possible.
The group says they look forward to doing more of these service projects in the future and hope the City of Jamestown will get behind them in our efforts.
