JAMESTOWN, NY (WNY News Now) – Police in Jamestown are reminding the public of the importance of locking their vehicles after two people were arrested twice this week for attempted theft.

Officers with the Jamestown Police Department say 26-year-old Deven Redeye and 19-year-old Elise Redeye, of Salamanca, allegedly tried to steal property from an unlocked vehicle parked at a local business around noon on Tuesday.

The duo was busted, police said, when their actions caught the attention of customers inside.

This is the second time in less than 12 hours the two were accused of theft. Later that night around 10 p.m., police said officers responded to another local business where the Redeyes were allegedly attempting to steal a car.

Both were taken into custody and now face several charges. Police say they were also wanted by law enforcement in Salamanca.
