JAMESTOWN, NY (WNY News Now) – Police have identified the man found deceased in Downtown Jamestown this week.
Partially decomposed human remains were found by a passerby around noon Monday next to Faust Electric on First Street.
Following an autopsy, officers identified the man as 51-year-old Clarence Kelwaski Jr. who in August reportedly signed himself out of drug treatment in Saratoga Springs and had not been in contact with his family since then.
While police did not rule out a drug overdose, investigators say an official autopsy result is pending further medical tests.
Jamestown Police detectives are still working to determine when and how Kelwaski was able to arrive back in Jamestown from Saratoga Springs.
Investigators ask anyone with information on Kelwaski’s death, or how and when he may have arrived back in town, to contact them at 716-483-7537 or via Anonymous Tip at 716-483-Tips (8477).
